Mumbai: A 34-year-old IndiGo cabin crew member, Kainoor Mistry, has died following a road accident in Mumbai, leaving her family, friends and colleagues in deep shock.
Mistry was reportedly travelling in an office cab when the accident took place on Friday. She sustained critical injuries and was placed on ventilator support following the crash. She later succumbed to her injuries, according to reports.
Car Reportedly Travelling on Wrong Side
According to reports citing sources familiar with the incident, the crash involved another car that was allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road.
Mistry was reportedly seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle when the collision occurred.
However, the exact circumstances of the accident and responsibility for the crash have not yet been independently established through an official statement. Reports of rash or negligent driving have so far come from people close to Mistry and social media tributes.
Airline Cab Safety Under Focus
The accident has also raised questions about the safety of transportation provided to airline crew members, particularly those travelling during early or late hours as part of their duty schedules.
Reports indicate that cab vendors providing transportation to airline crew were subsequently issued warning letters asking them to exercise extreme caution while transporting employees.
IndiGo has not publicly issued a detailed statement on Mistry’s death as of the latest reports. However, reports say that an airline team has been supporting her family following the incident.
