Zirakpur, September 21, 2026: The Nasha Mukt Punjab campaign took centre stage in Zirakpur on Monday as BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Manoj Tiwari spoke about the growing concerns surrounding drug abuse and its impact on families and young people in Punjab.

Addressing the gathering during the campaign, Tiwari highlighted the social impact of drug addiction and said that families, particularly mothers, continue to suffer as young people fall victim to substance abuse.

Tiwari also raised questions over the progress made towards the goal of making Punjab drug-free and criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government over its handling of the issue. He said the fight against drugs requires collective participation from political organisations, communities and families.

The presence of local party leaders reflected the organisational participation behind the Nasha Mukt Punjab campaign and its focus on taking the anti-drug message to the grassroots.

Focus on Punjab’s Youth

The campaign primarily focused on creating awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraging people to work towards protecting Punjab’s younger generation.

During his address, Tiwari emphasised that the fight against drugs should extend beyond politics and become a wider social movement. He appealed to families and communities to actively participate in efforts to keep young people away from substance abuse.

The Nasha Mukt Punjab agenda comes amid continued political debate over drug abuse, rehabilitation and action against drug trafficking in the state. With the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, the issue is also expected to remain an important part of the state’s political discourse.
